Walk down any beauty aisle and you'll see sustainability badges everywhere. They're meant to be a shortcut to trust, but as more of them appear they raise almost as many questions as they answer. One of the best known, B Corp, is built around a self-completed assessment and a single overall score that is renewed every few years. That can tell you a company is thinking about its impact. It doesn't always tell you what, specifically, has been independently checked.

Insight is not a B Corp, and that is a deliberate choice. Rather than work towards one overall score, we choose to be independently tested every single year, so our standards have to keep rising rather than resting on a one-time result. We are not anti-certification; we simply believe the proof should be independent, specific and renewed often. Here is what that looks like.

What goes into the bottle

Every Insight formula is, on average, more than 96% naturally derived and certified vegan by VeganOK, Italy's most widespread ethical vegan mark and recognised across Europe, which verifies the entire supply chain rather than a single finished product. Our Sensitive, Lenitive and Native ranges carry COSMOS Natural certification, the standard set by Europe's leading natural and organic cosmetic bodies, and through our RSPO membership we use only certified sustainable palm oil.

Just as telling is what we leave out: SLS and SLES, mineral oils and petrolates, parabens and synthetic colourants, and we have progressively removed silicones. Every product is nickel-tested and dermatologically patch-tested.

How it is made

Our formulas are developed and made in Italy under three externally audited standards: ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 22716 for cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practice, and ISO 14001 for environmental management. At our plant in Granarolo dell'Emilia we run on 100% renewable energy, purify our process water with ozone rather than chemicals, and treat our wastewater. Crucially, these standards are not awarded once and forgotten; they are subject to external audit year after year.

Our footprint

At our production site we run on 100% renewable energy, and our greenhouse-gas emissions are independently measured and verified to the international ISO 14064 standard, so our footprint is quantified by an external body rather than self-estimated. From there we work to reduce emissions year on year and invest in projects that address the share we cannot yet eliminate.

Packaging that comes back around

We have replaced plastic with glass and aluminium, materials that can be recycled endlessly without losing quality. Our labels were the first in the cosmetics sector made from ocean-bound plastic, and our RafCycle programme upcycles label waste that would otherwise be incinerated.

Why yearly matters

A badge earned once can quietly go out of date. By choosing independent testing every year, we hold ourselves to standards that are checked again and again, and that we expect to raise each time. Sustainability is not a finish line we cross and forget; it is a direction we keep moving in, one audited improvement at a time.

No single label can capture everything a responsible company should be, which is exactly why we do not lean on one. We would rather show you a stack of independent, audited standards you can look up yourself than ask you to trust one overall score.
