This question, which may seem unusual and useless at the moment, wants to help you visualize the environmental weight of the tons of waste produced every year in Italy... 180,000,000! The equivalent, in fact, of 134 Towers of Pisa...

And in the world the data are no longer reassuring: we are talking about 430,000,000 tons of plastic produced every year, of which only 9% is actually recycled and a good 22% is disposed of in uncontrolled open-air landfills or dispersed in the environment and oceans.

We would like to share with you another piece of data through images, this time using a graph, a wheel of time, which leads us to visualize the environmental problem of plastic waste and microplastics.

plastic consumption level

This is the graph that represents the overshoot day, or the date in which the countries of the world last year have finished their capacity to dispose of or recycle the plastic they produced or put on their market. If, for example, Mexico's overshoot is in the month of April, all the remaining plastic produced up to December becomes pure end-of-life waste and is destined to remain on the planet for several hundred years.

These disconcerting numbers serve to highlight how a more conscious behavior in our purchases of consumer goods and in the choices of production materials used by companies has become necessary and essential.

INsight also felt the need to replace all the packaging of its cosmetic products, choosing a more sustainable path and switching from recycled plastic to glass and aluminum, materials that are 100% recyclable an infinite number of times.

The market is now ready to support important and significant changes in favor of the environment also in the cosmetics sector.
Did you know that?

  • 77% of consumers consider glass the best container for cosmetics and perfumes
  • 21% for the refined touch it manages to give to the products
  • 44% because, being an inert material, it does not disperse chemical substances
  • 46% because it manages to best preserve the quality and aroma of the contents
  • 47% for its sustainability

Sustainability is not a utopia, but a daily commitment that is achieved through the concrete choices of each of us. Every choice has its weight, think about it!
